I am writing to Facebook and Twitter friends seeking their help in finding new clients. As you may know, I divide my time between paid technology work and volunteering in emergency services and animal rescue. I need to concentrate more on earning a living, which is why I am writing to you. (I apologize if this email seems like spam.)
You already know something about me or we wouldn't be together on Facebook. But you may not know everything I do and even this list is incomplete:
• Due diligence
• Technology evaluation
• Competitive analysis
• Product definition
• User interface design
• Product development
• Initial and ongoing review of products and competitors
• Product testing
• Identification of critical failings
• Brainstorming with developers and product managers
• Working with customers
• Materials and docs review
• Demonstration development
• Coaching
• Event host
• Podcast production and hosting
• Product evangelist
• Green and alternative energy technology and products
• Writing (of course)
My major projects are winding down and I have spent so much time starting a new not-for-profit (California Emergency Volunteers, Inc.) and doing cat rescue that my pipeline is dry. I love doing the volunteer work, but it doesn't pay the bills and actually adds significantly to expenses.
My resume and background are at www.coursey.com. Lately, I have been writing white papers and blogs, doing product consulting and mock reviews, creating emergency and crisis communications plans and will soon be hosting webinars once again.
I have also done e-commerce work, written ads for a consumer technology company and created successful business proposals for emergency warning systems. I've developed emergency management software for Microsoft, which most people don't know.
I am also doing consulting and exercise development work for UC Berkeley's Center for Infectious Diseases and Emergency Readiness.
Yes, it is a diverse portfolio and that makes it hard to drop me into a single category.
I'd greatly appreciate any referrals or suggestions you could provide. If you have friends or business associates in need of marketing writing or my expertise in other areas, please let them know I'm available.
With your help, I'll be able to do continue my work rescuing cats and building my not-for-profit emergency volunteer group. And still pay my bills!
Sincerely,
David Coursey
